The project involved the design and construction of 12 turbine bases and 4km of access roads.

Structural design of the bases was carried out by Mott MacDonald, with Powersystems responsible for the electrical works.

A total of 1.5km of floating roads was constructed over peat, after being designed in-house using expertise gained from previous windfarm projects.

The roads were built according to Countryside Council for Wales (CCW) requirements. Two borrow pits were developed on site to reduce reliance on imported stone, enabling 2,500 lorry journeys to be eliminated.

Other key activities included:

  • 10km of cable trenching
  • Construction of a substation
  • Supervision of turbine erection
