Extension to one of UK’s earliest renewable projects completed17th Apr 2015

Renewables expert Jones Bros Civil Engineering UK has successfully completed an extension to one of the UK’s first wind farms.

Four turbines have begun generating electricity at the Ramsey wind farm in Cambridgeshire – creating enough energy to power 5,000 homes.

The Ramsey ll project involved the four new turbines being installed alongside a single turbine that was installed in 2008, replacing a machine that was first erected in 1993 to provide clean power for a local cold storage plant – one of the UK’s first.

The £2m project was carried out on behalf of client REG Windpower.

Jones Bros, based in North Wales, has developed considerable expertise in constructing wind farms in a wide range of terrains and environments across the UK.

Founded in the 1950s and employing almost 350 people, Jones Bros has grown rapidly in the last decade. It is currently working on contracts in various sectors including the construction of waste management facilities, highways, flood and marine defence and renewable energy projects around the UK.
