S4C presenter Ellis Roberts visited Jones Bros headquarters in Ruthin where a careers event was taking place, before making the short journey to the company’s training yard where apprentices hone their skills.
He interviewed Hefin Lloyd Davies, senior project manager at Jones Bros, who explained how careers are developed at the company, with many employees staying for their entire working life.
Hefin originally joined Jones Bros as a trainee, rising through the ranks to become the most senior engineer at the business today.
Ellis also spoke to attendees at the careers event, which was organised for young people who wanted to find out about the range of jobs available at Jones Bros.
Roles including civil engineering, construction, commercial management and office-based roles such as HR, finance and training were all discussed at the event.
Director Ruth James said: “Our careers event was all about getting people interested in working for us, so it was brilliant to have coverage on national television.
“We are well known for providing apprenticeships, but we also offer careers in HR and finance and we were able to get that message out.”
Hefin added: “The feature showed our office and site-based work, and we look forward to recruiting more people into both of these fields in the near future.”
Founded in the 1950s, Jones Bros operates across the UK in sectors including construction of waste management facilities, highways and renewable energy projects such as wind farms.
