The £35m Porthmadog bypass project – a joint venture partnership between Jones Bros and Balfour Beatty – has been shortlisted for a prestigious award.
The project, completed last year, is in the running for the George Gibby Award, part of the ICE (Institution of Civil Engineers) Wales Cymru Project Awards.
The award, for projects over £3m, recognises excellence in concept, planning, design and contract management in construction.
The 5.3km long Tremadog, Porthmadog and Minffordd bypass was built by Jones Bros and Balfour Beatty on behalf of client the Welsh Government.
The new section of the A487 carriageway was constructed to improve journey times, ease congestion and significantly improve environmental conditions by enabling through traffic to bypass Porthmadog and the two villages.
The awards ceremony takes place at the Marriott Hotel in Cardiff on 4th May.
