Jones Bros to host careers event at Ruthin head office10th Apr 2019

Anyone interested in civil engineering higher apprenticeships, summer placements, or level 2 apprenticeships at one of North Wales’ most successful family businesses are being invited to its annual careers event.

Attendees will have the chance to speak with employees at various stages of their career from a number of departments spanning civil engineering, finance, and health and safety.

Experienced workers seeking to revive their careers are also welcome at Jones Bros Civil Engineering UK’s drop-in event at its Ruthin headquarters, Ty Glyn, between 4pm and 7pm on Tuesday 30 April.

In addition, they will have the opportunity to explore day-to-day roles and responsibilities in an informal setting.

The award-winning company is currently recruiting for delivery and support roles including estimator, quantity surveyor, project civil engineer, payroll assistant, and health, safety and environment advisor.

It’s also seeking applicants for the next intake of civil engineering higher apprentices, and Jones Bros director Ruth James is looking forward to showcasing the business’ innovative approach to career development.

“The focus of the event is to allow visitors to talk to a variety of staff at different levels of their career journey,” she said.

“This allows potential applicants to hear about what a career with us is really like directly from those in roles at the company.

“In particular, college and sixth form pupils will be able to find out about our successful first year collaboration with Coleg Cambria to modernise the delivery of higher apprentices in civil engineering.

“The change in approach, which is believed to be the first in the UK, has had fantastic feedback from the current cohort of apprentices, and Jones Bros employees will be on hand to talk about how to apply for the next course which starts in September.

“For those interested in summer placements and plant and construction operative apprenticeships, there will also be ample information and expertise on hand to advise about opportunities and vacancies.

“We can offer challenging and rewarding careers, and urge people with any queries or questions to pop in and chat to us.”

In addition to informal chats with employees, there will be presentations about the company and career opportunities at 4.30pm and 6pm.

Established in the 1950s, Jones Bros is now being run by the second and third generations of the founding family and employs more than 350 people.

The family-owned firm has recruited more than 100 apprentices during the past three years, with many of its senior management having started out in apprenticeship and trainee roles.

It works on projects including the construction of waste management facilities, highways, renewable energy, and flood and marine defence projects around the UK.
