A design and build project of a new dual carriageway with a series of structures that links the existing A49 Warrington roundabout to the B5238 Poolstock Lane / Westwood Road junction.
Works included:
- The construction of 2.2km of new dual carriageway
- Construction of four new integral bridges, ranging from 15m to 36m spans
- Remedial works to an existing brick arch structure
- Improvements at Poolstock, Chapel Lane, Westwood Way junction, and Westwood Road
- Modifications to traffic signal controls designed in conjunction with Urban Traffic Control (UTC) and above ground traffic signals installed by UTC Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM)
- Tie in at Westwood Way roundabout and access for a future Flashes visitor centre
- Construction of Westwood Way roundabout with a spur for access to a development site
- Tie in at the existing Warrington Road A49 roundabout
