Design and build balance of plant civils and electrical infrastructure for two Vestas 2.0MW turbines.
The site is located on existing farmland in the North East of England, near the town of Houghton le Spring. The ground conditions on site varied greatly, and required the design of two types of foundations – gravity and driven steel tube piled. The layout of the roads required extensive cutting on one section to achieve gradients, and significant earthworks and high quality reinstatement was needed to turn the land back to usable arable crop fields.
Works included:
- Construction of access roads and improvement to existing public highway junction
- Construction of concrete turbine foundation and crane pad foundations (including a piled foundation)
- Construction of substation/control building
- Electrical installation
- Landscaping/reinstatement
