Jones Bros’ excellent health and safety standards earn an esteemed industry award15th Jul 2026

Jones Bros Civil Engineering UK’s outstanding health and safety practices have secured the Ruthin-based firm another prestigious industry accolade.

The contractor has been rewarded with the order of distinction by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) after achieving 18 consecutive gold honours.

Initiatives and policies that contributed to the award for Jones Bros included the ‘Together Safer’ behavioural programme which aims to protect employees, subcontractors, and stakeholders by reinforcing key health and safety expectations.

Similarly, the firm’s entry submission demonstrated its unwavering commitment to preventing accidents by outlining its comprehensive site inspection processes and ongoing training opportunities such as its Black Hat Supervisors’ Development Programme.

Beyond securing the RoSPA order of distinction, Jones Bros is now targeting the esteemed patrons award, which rewards firms with 25 consecutive gold honours.

She added: “It would be great to earn the patrons award as it’s a highly valued accolade and would only further showcase our expertise.

“We will continue to enhance and evolve our HSE practices as we grow as a company, ensuring we maintain the very best practices and keep everyone safe.”

With 2,000 entries from more than 60 countries annually, the RoSPA awards are among the largest and most established health and safety schemes globally. This year marks the programme’s 70th anniversary.

Established in the 1950s, Jones Bros owns one of the largest plant fleets in the UK and employs approximately 550 people.

The company is currently working on contracts in various sectors including highways, flood and marine defence, reservoirs, waste management, and renewable energy around the UK.

The company runs an award-winning apprenticeship scheme, which has produced a large percentage of its current workforce, with several of its senior managers having started out as apprentices or in a trainee role. It has recruited hundreds of apprentices over the years.
