Jones Bros Civil Engineering UK’s innovation, leadership, and impact across the wind energy sector is up for recognition.
The firm is shortlisted for Tier 1 Contractor of the Year and Onshore Construction Project of the Year at the inaugural National Wind Energy Awards.
The overall Project of the Year honour will be chosen from the winners of the Onshore Construction Project of the Year, Offshore Project of the Year, and Onshore Development Project of the Year categories, giving Jones Bros the chance to compete for a third prize.
The Onshore Construction Project of the Year Award recognises excellence in engineering, construction, and installation, with Brockwell Energy’s North Kyle Wind Farm shortlisted.
Jones Bros was the Principal Contractor for the £300 million 49-turbine scheme near Dalmellington, Scotland, which is now operational and capable of powering the equivalent of more than 190,000 households.
Garod Evans, Contracts Director at Jones Bros, said: “Being shortlisted for Onshore Construction Project of the Year is a fantastic recognition of the scale and complexity of the work delivered at North Kyle.
“This was a major project involving close collaboration with our client Brockwell Energy, the supply chain, and our own teams, and I’m incredibly proud of the way everyone worked together to deliver it safely and successfully.
“North Kyle is now making a significant contribution to Scotland’s renewable energy capacity, and it’s particularly rewarding to see the project move from construction into operation.”
Jones Bros’ recent onshore wind farm portfolio also includes Sanquhar II, Windy Standard III, Clashindarroch II, Benbrack, and Carno III.
The Tier 1 Contractor of the Year Award recognises both procurement and execution excellence.

“The breadth of our onshore wind portfolio demonstrates the experience and capability we’ve developed in this sector, and it’s great to see that recognised through these awards.”
Winners of the awards will be announced on Thursday 17 September at Hilton London Bankside.
Established in the 1950s, Jones Bros owns one of the largest plant fleets in the UK and employs approximately 570 people.
The company is currently working on contracts in various sectors including renewable energy, highways, flood and marine defence, reservoirs, and waste management around the UK.
The company runs an award-winning apprenticeship scheme, which has produced a large percentage of its current workforce, with several of its senior managers having started out as apprentices or in a trainee role. It has recruited hundreds of apprentices over the years.
