Jones Bros’ expertise shortlisted for half a dozen prestigious industry awards6th Mar 2026

Jones Bros Civil Engineering UK’s expertise has resulted in being shortlisted for six accolades at the Ground Engineering Awards 2026.

With the annual event spotlighting industry achievements and excellence, the company’s proficiency has helped three major projects earn nominations.

Appointed as the Principal Contractor by Fidra Energy, Jones Bros’ partnership with Coffey Geotechnic on the Thorpe Marsh battery energy storage system (BESS), Doncaster, has placed the scheme as a finalist in the following categories:

  • Technical Excellence
  • UK Project with a Geotechnical Value over £10 million
  • Health and Safety

The family-owned firm delivered more than 500,000m3 of cut / fill earthworks and completed close to 4km of deep surface water drainage during the development.

In addition, the £300 million North Kyle Wind Farm in East Ayrshire, Scotland, is up for two accolades:

  • UK Project with a Geotechnical Value over £10 million
  • Sustainability

These nominations recognise the collaborative effort on the Brockwell Energy-led development.

Jones Bros, alongside specialist consultants Tony Gee and Partners, Vibro Menard Ltd, and Natural Power Consultants, delivered 49 reinforced concrete foundations and the comprehensive infrastructure required to install 49 Vestas V132 turbines on the former open cast coal mine site.

Thanks to innovation, sustainability, safety, and value engineering, the B5605 Newbridge Landslip Remediation scheme is shortlisted for UK Project with a Geotechnical Value of between £1 million and £3 million.

Delivered on behalf of Wrexham County Borough Council, Jones Bros worked in partnership with Mott MacDonald, Atkins Réalis, and Corderoy to repair a major landslip, with the road reopened for public use in October 2025.

Jones Bros Chairman, Huw Jones, MBE, FICE said: “Seeing projects we’ve worked on reach the finalist stage for so many awards is fantastic and a real testament to the expertise and diligence of our team members.

“We’re also thankful to all our partners who have assisted us in delivering each scheme to such high standards, and we look forward to seeing the final results from each nomination.”

Winners of the Ground Engineering Awards will be announced 17 June 2026 at the JW Marriot Grosvenor House Hotel in London.
