Construction work is under way on an eight-turbine extension to an Aberdeenshire wind farm.
Jones Bros Civil Engineering UK has been selected as the principal contractor for the Mid Hill II Wind Farm, located adjacent to the existing 25-turbine Mid Hill project.
The contract will see Jones Bros install the balance of plant on the project. Construction work will include the delivery of site tracks, crane pads and the turbine bases, as well as on-site infrastructure.
Jones Bros contracts manager Garod Evans said: “We’re very pleased to remain on site at Mid Hill and continue our work with Fred. Olsen Renewables again.
“We’ve made a good start so far, and having already worked here previously on the newly operational Mid Hill 1 Wind Farm, we’re confident moving forwards.”
The turbine bases are due to be completed later this year, and the eight new Siemens 2.3MW turbines will bring the wind farm’s total capacity to 76 MW.
Founded in the 1950s and employing almost 350 people, Jones Bros has won contracts to deliver infrastructure for more than 400 wind turbines across the UK.
As well as expertise in renewable energy, the Jones Bros is currently working on contracts in various sectors including the construction of waste management facilities, highways, and flood and marine defence.
