One week to go to drop-in careers’ event20th Apr 2017

Summer placements, industrial placements and work experience opportunities will be on offer at the Jones Bros careers’ event on Thursday, 27 April.

There will also be a chance to sign up for apprenticeships as plant operator, plant fitter or general construction operator. Trainee civil engineers are also sought.

There are also opportunities to sign up for Higher Apprenticeships, which the company is now introducing.

Students of subjects including finance, quantity surveying, project management and HR, will be welcome, as Jones Bros is seeking to expand its head office.

Places are now open for the annual work experience week, to be held for 14-to 17-year-olds, after schools break up in July 2017.

Visitors will get the chance to talk to engineers, project managers and head office employees to find out about the different career paths available.

The event, from 4pm until 7pm at Jones Bros’ head office in Ty Glyn, Ruthin, will also include talks about the contractor’s award-winning apprenticeship programme and opportunities for school leavers and graduates.

It follows on from the firm’s first-ever careers’ event, which attracted dozens of visitors.

At that event, the company recruited a trainee civil engineer, a number of apprentices and six undergraduates for its six-week summer placement programme.

Managing Director John Dielhof said: “We have plenty of opportunities for trainee engineers, as well as construction and plant operatives.

“We also want to help young people think beyond the traditional jobs you associate with construction.

“We have career paths in support roles such as in finance, quantity surveying and health and safety, all of which offer opportunities for progression.”
