Jones Bros gives £100 boost to community’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations8th May 2012
The firm building the Lochluichart wind farm is helping the community to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, with a £100 boost to a fund-raising campaign to buy commemorative mugs and coins.
Jones Bros Civil Engineering UK made the donation to the appeal, launched by Garve and District Community Council, in Ross-shire.
The council is fundraising to buy mugs, coins or medals for all pre-school and schoolchildren in the district. It also hopes to buy two trees or build a small cairn adorned with a memorial plaque as a way for Garve and Achnasheen villages to commemorate the diamond jubilee this year.
Jones Bros regional manager, Dennis Kearney, said: “We are delighted to be able to assist with such a valuable project as this. These commemorative souvenirs will serve as a long-term reminder of this happy occasion for years to come.”
Over the lifetime of the project, Jones Bros is on target to spend more than £3.5m in the local economy, on wages and purchase of supplies from local firms.
Owned by Eneco, the 51MW wind farm is being developed on the Lochluichart Estate, located on the higher land between Loch Glascarnoch and Loch Luichart.
