Jones Bros Civil Engineering UK has once again shown unwavering support to the mental health and wellbeing of its local community.
The Ruthin-headquartered firm is aiding Vale of Clwyd Mind, a mental health charity which aims to help everyone live their best possible life through a range of services that focus on recovery and empowering people to take back control.
Key to this is the Denbighshire Outreach Rural Information Service (D.O.R.I.S), which is a custom-built exhibition and outreach vehicle that visits farmers’ markets, rural villages, and shows throughout the county.
Assistance from Jones Bros will keep the wheels turning as D.O.R.I.S continues the fine work that saw it help more than 1,400 people and refer almost 180 others for social prescribing.
Providing support around mental wellbeing and finances, social prescribing also helps individuals be more socially connected, active, independent, and healthy.
Jones Bros senior health, safety, and environment manager Mike Jolley said: “We are always striving to positively impact the communities in which we operate, and naturally, the Vale of Clwyd is close to our hearts.
“We recognise the importance of mental health and wellbeing, highlighted by our recent ‘sustainable’ ranking from Mates in Mind, which is a leading charity in the sector.
“To keep D.O.R.I.S on the road, Vale of Clwyd Mind needed some assistance, and we jumped at the chance to provide it. It’s an invaluable scheme in the region and long may it continue making a great impression on those who need help and guidance.”
The charity, affiliated to National Mind, also works with a range of organisations, which have included Llangollen Food Share, Red Cross, and Age Connects to name but three.
Deborah Holmes-Langstone, fundraiser for Vale of Clwyd Mind, said: “We can’t thank Jones Bros enough for its support. Every contribution enables us to keep D.O.R.I.S on the road that little bit longer.
“Most locations we visit are in rural places, so that people who struggle to access services aren’t forgotten about and they can reach out for support when they need it.”
The charity is also holding fundraising events, including the Ruthin Evening 5k, the Llyn Alwen 11.5k and CaniCross, and Behind the Gate, which will celebrate 80 years of farming.
