Strategic partnership sees Jones Bros support the Anglesey County Show18th Aug 2024

Jones Bros Civil Engineering UK’s dedication to agriculture has been reiterated after joining forces with the Anglesey County Show.

The Ruthin-headquartered firm has entered a three-year strategic partnership with the two-day event based at The Mona Showground, which attracts more than 40,000 people from across Wales and further afield.

Held on 13 and 14 August, visitors were treated to displays of livestock, equestrian events, arts and craft stands, and stalls with local produce, as well as an entertainment zone featuring live acts and activities for the whole family.

The Jones Bros logo was on display on the front of the pavilion, whilst Cambrian Services Limited, part of the family-owned business, had a stand at the show.

Those in attendance were able to meet the team and sign a giant concrete interlocking block, as well as watch video clips of operations and pick up branded merchandise.

Cambrian commercial manager Andy Roberts said: “As a local business, it is important to be seen out and about in the community.

“The Anglesey Show is one of the region’s main attractions, and it was great for the team to chat to many, many people who visited our stand.”

Sales representative for Cambrian, Cadi Sion, who helped run the stand at the show, added: “We love trying different things when we are out and about meeting people, and the concrete block is always great fun.

“Children love nothing more than drawing pictures and writing on things, and this was a way of giving our concrete block an eye-catching look.”

Jones Bros contracts director Hefin Lloyd-Davies said: “The partnership with the Anglesey Show further strengthens the company’s presence on the island.

“We are proud of our Welsh roots, and having a positive impact on as many communities as possible really matters to us, this is also an opportunity for us to show our customers the full range of products we can offer.”

Recent activity on Ynys Môn has included construction of the substation for tidal energy project Morlais, which has the potential generating capacity of 240MW – enough to power around 180,000 typical households.

Up to 25 per cent of employees working on the Anglesey-based scheme resided on the island, following a recruitment drive and the company signing up to Local Jobs for Local People.

The civil engineering firm also utilised local suppliers and subcontractors on development with more than 20 companies in North Wales engaged.

Established in the 1950s, Jones Bros owns one of the largest plant fleets in the UK and employs approximately 500 people.

The company is currently working on contracts in various sectors including highwaysflood and marine defencewaste management and renewable energy around the UK.

The company runs an award-winning apprenticeship scheme, which has produced nearly 40 per cent of its current workforce, with many of its senior managers having started out as apprentices or in a trainee role. It has recruited hundreds of apprentices over the years.
